A scoundrel lies dying, he makes his confession; his sins were legion, his deeds despicable, and he wants to atone for his scandalous life. He bequeaths an invaluable gift to Monks Hood Abbey, an ancient Monastery set in a lonely corner of the Yorkshire moors. But sin throws a long shadow and corruption crawls in its shade. Strangers come forward and lay claim to the monks’ inheritance. Chaos simmers and then boils over, shattering the tranquility of the Abbey.
Once again Karen Baugh Menuhin has not disappointed. Her latest story set deep in Yorkshire is pure entertainment with typical villagers alongside Lennox, Swift, Greggs & the pets. Plenty of twists & turns in the plot to keep you guessing whodunnit. This is yet another cannot put down must read book.
Such an engaging plot with brilliant twists. The setting is so well drawn and unusual it brought real life and reality to the story. I fell in love with Lennox in book 1 and following him, and the developing relationship between him and Swift, is captivating. Not forgetting Greggs, who is hilarious and the gorgeous Foggy and Mr Tubbs. Too much to love all round. This is such a great read, like books 1-4 in the series, and the ending... is simply beautiful and incredibly moving. Can't wait for book 6!
Time, setting and subject are wonderful. Intrigue and surprises. Description of places and people make them come to life as you read.
