A wedding invitation and news of mischief that could be murder, takes Lennox to The Earl of Bloxford’s country pile. He soon finds himself in a world of purloined artworks, forgeries and a priceless Bloxford Beauty. But who are the Bloxford Beauties? And why are they the focal point around which swirls death?
Lennox must confront life-long friends, unscrupulous artists and dealers to finally unravel a plot so complex that even his old adversary, Chief Inspector Swift of Scotland Yard, is befuddled.
The Black Cat Murders is the second book by Karen Menuhin that I've read. She captures the period so well. Lennox is the perfect sleuth for the times. Karen's complex plotting is enhanced by the humour which makes her stories all the more enjoyable. It sounds like a cliché but I really can't put the book down until I've finished it. Now for the third tale. But I'd better get some sleep first.
Cracking good murder mystery! It kept me guessing until the end. Great period storyline and interesting characters. Can’t wait to read the next one!
Such characters! I could visualize everyone. The humour, the sadness, the people you could meet in your own life all was well written. I never figured out who did it which is what I want in a mystery. A story has to catch my interest from the start and both her books have. Can't wait for the next mystery!!
